Timber-frame log cabin porch with a stone chimney in the mountains

The Larchwood Cabin

A timber-frame hideout with a wood stove that actually works.

Sleeps 63 bedrooms2 bath4.87 (163 reviews)

The Larchwood was raised in 1978 by a furniture maker who never quite finished with the tools — the joinery shows it. We've kept the cast-iron wood stove, added a proper espresso setup, and left the ridge view alone. Cell signal is one bar on the porch and none inside, which people either love or ask us about twice before booking. The nearest grocery run is 19 minutes into Bakersville; after that it's just you, the stove, and whatever's left in the growler from the brewery down the mountain.
